Browsing League of Legends community blogs can seriously make you wonder about the current situation of the game. It’s like yesterday everyone was celebrating for the arrival of the new season and new skins but now, many are doubting about the credibility of some “good” players.

League of Legends is still one of the top multiplayer online video games there is, with 27 million daily active players as of January 2014. But certain problems also occur such as the ongoing one, the toxic gaming experience. Its triggers include toxic gamers and script users.

It’s getting harder to identify a “good” player until you get to play with them. A toxic player can easily be spotted with all the vulgarity during the climax of a battle on live chats. And it will be easier this time around since Riot already made voice chats available (the feature is exclusively for premade groups but it is expected to be available for many in the near future.)

And then there are those players who seem to trot around the game and win without effort as if LOL is the easiest game there is. Some would assume they are using scripts while some would accuse them of using Elo boosting.

What is Elo Boosting?

Elo boosting, compared to scripting, is actually the most natural approach because someone is still playing for the wins and the ranks. Although Elo boosting isn’t widely accepted in the LOL community, its demands continue to grow. A booster (someone with great skills in winning battles and ranks) offers his/her expertise to another player. These clients can either let the booster coach them or control their account on their behalf. The process depends on the client’s desired tier and division. When the booster is done with the job, he gets paid and the client takes control of their account again, with better ranking this time.
